Newhouse: Gray Wolf Decision Not Expected For Weeks
The Department of Interior continues to look at delisting the gray wolf in the Lower 48. When a proposal was announced earlier this year, a comment period was opened. That comment period came to a close earlier this month. Central Washington’s Dan Newhouse said at this point, Interior plans to go through those comments with a fine-toothed comb.
“My understanding is that [Department of the Interior] received in the neighborhood of 300,000 comments. The agency is going through the process now of digesting those and coming up with a direction that the public prefers that they go.”
Because of number of comments, Newhouse does not expect a final decision for several weeks at the very least.
