On Wednesday, Representative Dan Newhouse joined south Texas Representative Will Hurd, calling on Congress to act on a bipartisan solution of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, better known as DACA.  Newhouse said members of both parties must come together on legislation that can get 218 votes in the House, 60 votes in the Senate, and then on to the President for his signature.

“It’s time for us to be able to come together in a bipartisan way and find that solution that is really right in front of us. In fact, I believe that today we should be on the verge of signing important legislation with that DACA solution.”

Newhouse noted Wednesday that more than 1/3 of the 17,000 DACA individuals in Washington live in his Central Washington congressional district.

“DACA individuals in this country are truly a huge asset to the United States of America.”

Newhouse also called on supporters of DACA to continue to apply pressure on Congress until legislation is approved.
