Secretary Sonny Perdue has announced a new chief of the U.S. Forest Service, Tony Tooke, currently Regional Forester in the Southern Region.

 

Tooke will succeed Tom Tidwell who announced his retirement last week.

 

Perdue made the announcement Monday noting that Tooke was part of USFS’ inaugural leadership program, and spotlighting his dedication to the nation’s forests.

 

Tidwell’s final day will be at the end of this month with Tooke taking the reins September 1st.
