The American Farm Bureau Federation and National Association of State Departments of Agriculture have sent a letter to the EPA asking to delay the implementation of changes to the Worker Protection Standards.

They say the law is incomplete and violates federal law while failing to advance safety for farmworkers.

In the joint petition, the groups ask EPA for a delay, “to give NASDA members adequate time to prepare for compliance with the rule and to avoid the unfair and unredressable harm to farmers and ranchers.”

They also point out that EPA did not send final copies of the regulations to Congressional Committees or Secretary Tom Vilasck, which violates the law’s requirements.
