Moderate Drought Continues To Spread Across Northwest
Drought continues to spread across the Northwest. According to the latest USDA numbers, nearly 79% of Washington is under the Moderate Drought designation. In fact, the Columbia Basin is the only area not considered under a drought.
In Oregon, 43% of the state is under the D1 Moderate Drought designation, stretching across the northern potation of the state sound to Bend, Baker City and Corvallis. Another 34% of the state is considered Abnormally Dry. Currently, 22% of Oregon, near the California and Nevada boarders are considered on par for this time of year, the only stretch of the Northwest without some drought designation.
