March is Taste Washington Wine Month
March is Taste Washington Wine Month and President of the Washington Wine Commission Steve Warner said it’s an opportunity to appreciate all the hard working winemakers, grape growers and others that make the industry so strong.
Warner noted that he just got back from a trip to Europe, “where we were going head-to-head with the best wines from France, the best wine from Italy and the best wines from Spain and we were beating them hands down in blind tasting and that wouldn’t have happened if not for these skilled winemakers and skilled growers.”
Winemaking is a $5 billion industry that also helps industry such as restaurants, bottle companies and boosts tourism in most areas.
The month will be capped off by the annual Taste Washington event, a 4-day celebration starting with a party at Aqua Thursday, March 31st followed by "Taste Washington On the Farm" the next day.
“Which are opportunities to really experience that farm to table paired with Washington State wines and a winemaker on the farm where the actual food comes from.”
There are also promotions, events and other celebrations at individual wineries throughout the month.
