The UDSA has released their numbers of cattle, both beef and dairy, in each county throughout the Northwest.

 

In Washington, there are 1.15 million total head in the state with most residing in Yakima County (255,000) and Grant County (160,000). The 2017 look mirrors the 2016 and other previous years with Yakima and Whatcom Counties housing the most dairy cattle and Yakima and Grant counties have the most beef cattle.

 

In Oregon, there’ 1.32 million head, a 10,000 head bump from last year with Malheur and Morrow counties topping the number of all cattle. Malheur has the most beef cattle, followed by Harney County. For dairy, Morrow and Tillamook lead the way in the Beaver State.

 

Oregon saw increases in the number of cows of all types while Washington say a slight decrease in dairy that was evened out by a slight bump in beef cattle.
