“Which will help to better accommodate the water needs of not only the agricultural community, but the conservationists, residents and all stake holders within the Yakima River Basin.”

Newhouse added the Yakima River Basin Water Enhancement Project Phase III Act is vital not only for the current needs, but the future growth as well.  He added the Water Enhancement Project as a whole serves as an example to the rest of the country.

“This has truly been a model of collaboration and cooperation between a tremendously diverse group of people, that represent interest across the spectrum.  State and local stakeholders, irrigators, conservationists, Indian tribes.”

On Thursday, Representative  Schrier said, “the Yakima Basin Integrated Plan is a critical step towards ensuring Washington State has a reliable water supply for years to come.”
