While the snowpack and runoff is in good shape now, the summer heat will hit the area, which means irrigation will become vital for many growers across the region.  Chuck Powell with Irrigation Specialists said Lindsay Corporation has a new pivot control, FieldNET, that allows growers to control both the pump and pivot.  And Lindsay’s technology, he said works with any brand of existing equipment.

"It really reduces the time a grower has to go to the field.  Now, we’re not trying to take the farmer away from farming but what we’re trying to do is give them efficient tools to be just that more efficient, so it’s better use of water, better use of labor less wear and tear on your farm inputs.”

Powell added while the heat of summer may seem well down the road, it’s best to plan now.

“As everybody knows it turns real quick, you want to get your projects on the docket and get them in the system to get installed. It does come upon us real quick.”
