WSU’s Dr. Dennis Johnson discovered late blight in eight Columbia Basin potato fields north and southeast of Pasco.

Johnson says fields with late blight should be treated on a five-day fungicide application schedule while fields without late blight in the affected area should treat on a seven day schedule.

Other fields in the Basin, according to Johnson, should treat at row closure and then on a 10-14 day schedule.

WSU experts are always available to help potato growers who need help identifying or treating late blight and you can reach Johnson in particular at 509-335-3753.
