ISDA Hosting Pesticide Disposal Events This Week
Homeowners, growers, dealers, and professional applicators across Idaho storing unusable or unwanted pesticides will have a safe and free opportunity to dispose of them this week. The Idaho State Department of Agriculture will host a pair of pesticide disposal events, one Tuesday in Bonneville County, and the second taking place Wednesday in Twin Falls County.
“And we understand that having unwanted pesticides or unsafe pesticides sitting around in the shop or in the garage or in the garden, there's not a safe way of handling those,” noted the ISDA's Sydney Kennedy.
ISDA pesticide disposal sites will take most pesticides including herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, rodenticides; really anything ending with “cide.” No high-pressure canisters, fertilizer, micronutrients, paint, solvents, motor oil, or rinsates other than seed treat rinsates will be accepted. Loads exceeding 1,000 pounds must be pre-registered.
Both Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s events run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
If you can’t make it to this week’s events, ISDA will hold another round of Pesticide Disposal events next month, in American Falls September 10th, and Burley September 11th.
