Many producers are worried about market futures because of trade negotiations and tariffs.  But is there promise for agriculture exports in the future?

Dan Basse, president of AgResource Company thinks because of the rapid GDP expansion, the greatest opportunity for growth lies between two countries, China and India.

“China will have an additional 1.5 million people per year that will be making $20,000 a year, that’s really a big deal," Basse said.  "And so, that a long with population growth in India, provides that opportunity for U.S. Ag products going abroad, as we think about the time period from 2020 and beyond.”

Basse is optimistic about the cash cattle market into 2019.

“So if I’m looking for marketings, I’m looking for those opportunity is October, early November, or February into March, and then those rallies provide hedging opportunities thinking forward to April and June cattle of next year.”

Basse encourages producers to keep track of the markets and look at opportunities in the near future.
