Another agribusiness, Bayer/Monsanto, is nearing completion.  Jim Collins represents the recently consolidated Dow/DuPont, said there is a unique opportunity for these new companies to better understand what consumers, grocery store shoppers and restaurant goers want.

“We can help grow our grower costumers, the grower community adapt and thrive.  As Ag companies we need to ask ourselves what role can we play in helping consumers understand food production and separate the fact from the fiction.”

He said that’s especially important in the education of consumers about the economics of agriculture and food production.  Knowledge that Collins says several consumers may lack.

“Expectations continue to rise for us to employee a sustainable production method that reduces are environmental footprint and be increasingly transparent about food production methods and our supply chains.  These trends not only affect packaged foods but affect farm outputs as well.”
