Late last week, the National FFA Organization and National FFA Foundation announced their 2020 scholarship winners, and several students from the Inland Northwest were awarded funds.

North Idaho:

  • Kendra Murray, from Genesee FFA, is the winner of the Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company Scholarship
  • Katherine Doumit, from Troy FFA, is the winner of the Tractor Supply Company Endowment

Northeast Oregon:

  • Matthew Orem, from Heppner FAA, is the winter of the IT Memorial Scholarship

Eastern and Central Washington:

  • Jessicas Swain, from Cheney FFA, is the winner of the Ford Trucks/Build Ford Tough Scholarship
  • Gunnar Aune, from Colfax FFA, is the winner of the Ford Trucks/Build Ford Tough Scholarship
  • Paiton Kirpes, from Colton FFA, is the winner of the Ford Trucks/Build Ford Tough Scholarship
  • Lauren Stubbs from LaCrosse FFA, is the winner of the America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarship
  • Ellie Gerin, from Lind-Ritzville FFA, is the winner of the John Deere/RDO Scholarship
  • Alissa Whitaker, from Moses Lake FFA, is the winner of the John Deere/RDO Scholarship
  • Paden Wallace, from Quincy FFA, is the winner of the , John Deere/ RDO Scholarship
  • McKensie Ochoa is the winner of the America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarship

FFA awarded more than $2 million in scholarships to 1,323 recipients. More than 6,800 students applied online for the scholarships, with many of the applicants being considered for multiple awards.  The scholarships were available to students pursuing two-year or four-year degrees or vocational programs. The average recipient had a GPA of 3.82 on a 4.0 scale.

The FFA scholarship program began in 1984 with 16 scholarships offered.  Since then, more than $50 million has been awarded in scholarship funds through the National FFA Organization.
