The Fertilizer Institute recently thanked President Trump for including Potash alongside critical minerals in an Executive Order.  This designation, combined with the provisions in the EO, sets into place a framework to ensure that Potash and other mineral resources critical for American Ag are leveraged to create jobs and fuel American prosperity.  The Order will also help ensure a stable and abundant supply of fertilizers, which are critical to maintaining the global competitiveness of U.S. farmers, strengthening rural economies, and keeping food prices in check.

“This forward-looking action by the president to recognize potash as a critical mineral will help ensure U.S. farmers have access to the essential nutrients they need to grow the crops that feed our nation,” said TFI President and CEO Corey Rosenbusch.

He added 98% of annual U.S. potash consumption comes from imports.  Despite having natural reserves, the U.S. accounts for only 0.2% of global supply.
