The annual Quincy Farmer Consumer Awareness Day is Saturday.  The event started in 1981 when Dennis Higashiyama decided to respond to a Paul Harvey reported that showed how the farmer and consumer had drifted apart.  In response, he wanted to host an even that helped people understand from where our food comes and how farming progresses from seed to sale.  There will be hot-air balloons, a fun run, car show, cook-off and fireworks among the many activities held over the weekend.
