The annual summer Farm Walks begin on May 22nd at Lenwood Farms in Franklin County.

Sarah Collier, Farm and Market Department Director of the Tilth Alliance which puts on the walks said this gives an opportunity to share knowledge.

“They’re an opportunity for farmer-to-farmer knowledge exchange. Someone offers to host a farm walk on their farm about a certain topic of interest to the agricultural community and a bunch of fellow farmers have the chance to come out and look around, delve deeply into that topic that we focus on.”

There are also experts that are brought out from either schools or WSDA that help expand on the topic of the day.

Collier said this particular farm walk will discuss cover crops.

“So on this farm walk, we’re going to especially look at the cover crops that he’s growing, the ways he’s incorporating them and the effects that those are having on his soil health.”

The walk runs from noon until 4 and registration can happen either online at tilthalliance.org or you can register at the site.
