Despite efforts by the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture and the American Farm Bureau Federation, EPA’s new worker protection standards have become law.

The organizations had pushed for a delay because it, “fails to advance the purpose of furthering the safety of farmworkers.”

Officials with the Washington State Department of Agriculture says there are some laws that will be new to the state, but many are already in place through state regulations.
Producers in the Northwest are asked to contact their state departments of agriculture with any questions on rules and implementation.
