Duvall Notes Senate’s Farm Bill Needs Improvements

It may be slower than many would like, but progress on a new five-year Farm Bill is being made following the release of the Senate’s draft legislation. American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall said there are many benefits of this proposal, but improvements are needed.

“Benefits of the Senate farm bill include improved access to credit, expanded investments in specialty crops, increased transparency in fertilizer markets, and enhanced research and conservation programs," Duvall said. "While this is a positive step forward, Congress must still protect interstate commerce, approve the sale of year-round E15, and provide economic aid to farmers struggling with a depressed farm economy.”
