Dry Weather Expected To Continue Into March
February is wrapping up as a month of two halves, the first half was wet for most of the Inland northwest with rain and snow showers. But halfway through the month, things changed drastically, and the precipitation dried up. Marilyn Lohmann, meteorologist with the National Weather Service said as we look to March, she doesn’t anticipate this dryer weather changing anytime soon. She says the reason much of the area is below average in the precipitation category is due to a jet stream running east and west.
“So these storms just kind of barrel through at a very quick pace, so hopefully we get that changed up a little bit, and are maybe able to get a little bit of precipitation working in east of the Cascades instead of being so rain shadowed.”
Lohmann said as we look into early March, she expects dry conditions to continue with temperatures at or slightly above average for this time of year.
