It’s a dry winter for much of the Northwest.  According to the USDA over 87% of Oregon is considered abnormally dry, or the D0 designation; up roughly 22% from last week.  In fact, the only portions of Oregon not under some type of designation are the Wallowa Mountains, the lower Willamette Valley, and a few pockets along the coast.  The good news for Oregon, the Moderate Drought area, or D1 designation did not change over the past week.

As far as Washington is concerned, the figures did not change from last week.

When looking at the entire western U.S., roughly 65% of the area is under a drought designation of some kind.  The most severe drought figures are in Arizona and New Mexico.
