After a year that started off with so much promise on the water front, the Northwest continues to dry out at a rapid rate.  The USDA says over 55% of Oregon is under a severe drought designation.  The driest area stretches from Malheur County to Astoria in the NW section of the state.  At this point, only 5% of the state does not have some sort of drought identification.

Washington continues to dry out as well, but things are not so dire there.  Nearly 6% of the state is under a severe drought, but that’s all in the SW corner of the state.  East of the Cascades, the state is considered Abnormally Dry for this time of year.
