DeHaan: 2024 Marked By Very Little Action, Questions
As we prepare to wrap up 2024, we take a look back on the past 12 months. Patrick DeHaan with Gasbuddy.com said this year was a quiet one, with fuel prices slowly eroding from January to December.
“Gasoline, oil prices, diesel prices coming back into balance after a tumultuous last couple of years," DeHaan noted. "2024 ending with softness in the oil patch like we've seen throughout the course of this year, with even OPEC’s production cuts really failing to inspire confidence in the market.”
DeHaan said while the year has been quiet, it hasn’t been without questions. The strength of the Chinese economy has been one of the biggest questions as of recent, and question he expects will continue into the New Year.
“As we start to see inflation numbers pick back up here towards the end of 2024, the question mark being will central banks continue to lower interest rates and at what pace that could affect oil demand going into 2025?”
