Central Washington Irrigation Demands Fully Met As Season Wraps
The Bureau of Reclamation says Yakima Basin irrigation demands will be fully met thought October 20th.
The final water supply forecast for the 2026 irrigation season shows reservoir storage to start the month stood at 210,396 acre-feet; about 20% full and 66% of average. Meanwhile, September's precipitation was 145% of average, while water-year precipitation was 113% of average.
“With October underway, we’re reviewing this year’s hydrologic conditions to guide winter planning and reservoir management. We appreciate the continued collaboration from our irrigation districts, communities, and partners as we work to balance water needs across the basin and prepare for months ahead,” said Candace Carmack, Reclamation acting Columbia Cascade Area Office manager.
The new water year started on October 1st.
