With the western weather wet season at its official end April 1st, the outlook for mountain snow pack water runoff and supplies for the into the spring looks like this:

"Almost the entire west is reporting below average snow pack, below average snow water equivalencies, as we head into the beginning of the melt season."

With USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey noting a bleak out look for run-off and water supplies for several states.

"Oregon, California, extending into the great basin, parts of the intermountain west and large sections of the southwestern United States."

Rippey, however, adds there are some exceptions to this report.

"There are only a few small areas that are reporting near average snow pack.  Primarily across the central Rockies and adjacent areas across the Eastern intermountain West, extending in to Eastern Utah.  And then there's another area across Northwestern Montana and parts of the northernmost Rockies."
