The Benton-Franklin Fair and Rodeo announced a donation of $2,166 to Second Harvest thanks to the 2016 event.

Money was raised by taking $2 from each admission ticket and also raising nearly $400 at the BBQ Cook-off.

The donation is equivalent to nearly 13,000 pounds of food and is the second largest in the history of the program.

Regional Executive Director for Second Harvest said the Fair has donated nearly 80,000 pounds over nine years and that, “This kind of support is essential during a time when food insecurity impacts one-in-four children in our community.”
