Duvall Stresses How AI Can Be A Great Tool For Farmers
As Artificial Intelligence makes its way to the farmgate, American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall says AI could open new doors to improving agriculture. Duvall talked about a recent visit to the University of Florida’s Gulf Coast Research and Education Center, where he says researchers are putting AI to work for farmers in real ways.
“I saw how AI can help farmers target weeds in tomato fields and reduce herbicide use by as much as 70%, while also lowering costs," Duvall said. "Farmers have always adopted tools that help us do more with less, and AI is another tool to improve efficiency and care for the land.”

At the same time, Duvall said, farmers understand that this innovation comes with concerns, especially as more data centers move into rural communities.
"Farmers deserve a seat at the table as these conversations move forward because no one understands stewardship better than the people who work the land every day,” Duvall stressed.
