Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue spoke at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis last week extolling the virtues of FFA and encouraging young people to succeed.  Perdue said FFA’s development of young people is critical for the future of agriculture.

“We must have agricultural leaders engaged in all areas and I want to challenge you to lead.”

Perdue pointed out that the new Undersecretary for Trade Ted McKinney was involved in FFA in Indiana.  Perdue also noted that he has had a lot of exposure to FFA students as Governor of Georgia and now Secretary of Agriculture amongst other jobs).

“And I can tell you that I can spot the FFA students in those internship programs right away. You always stood out.”

Communication was the theme of Perdue’s speech where he pushed the FFA students to tell the story of agriculture to the world.
