Ag Safety Days Scheduled For February

The 15^th annual Washington Agriculture Safety Days are coming up this month, but there is a twist from years past.  This year, the state will hold the events in Kennewick and Wenatchee.  Michael Peterson, chairman that organizes the event, says the work to cover a wide variety of hazards the farming community will face.

“We have topics on warehouse safety, we have topics on machine safety forklift safety, working around loud noise hazards.  There’s heat stress.  We have confined spaces training and we have multiple courses on pesticide training.”

Peterson said new this year, a focus on Distracted Driving.  He added there will be a variety of exhibitors demonstrating the latest in safety technology.  Peterson said both Ag Safety Days are open to anyone working in the farming community.

“We have people where it’s their first time working on the farm, or in the orchard.  We have people who are seasoned veterans that have been out there for decades.  It’s really intended to be for everyone.”
