Ag Could Help Cuban Embargo
At a press conference in Havana, President Obama highlighted the importance of agriculture in ending the embargo against Cuba noting, “If we build on the work that we’re doing in agriculture and you start seeing more U.S. farmers interacting with Cuban farmers and there’s more exports than imports, the possibility of ending the embargo increases.”
USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack has already announced some programs that would improve and increase ag research and information communication.
Obama is optimistic that the embargo will eventually lift, but the current changes need to prove successful.
