Americans are facing higher prices across the board and rural families are some of the hardest hit.  With fewer choices, stores or suppliers, rural America doesn’t have the same options available to urban communities.  AARP’s Sean Voskuhl said, that doesn’t mean rural families can’t fight inflation.

“From groceries, to cars, DIY projects, to watching TV, there are many ways you can save money to help fight inflation. For example, when shopping, search before you shop, order online, as it reduces impulse buys, and go all-in on store brand items."

He noted another area of savings is prescription drug costs.

"Good Rx is one way to find free coupons and search for better prices. AARP also has a prescription drug benefit to help cut costs. When you use your free Rx discount card at a CVS Pharmacy, you can save on all FDA-approved medications. You can also save at other pharmacies such Walmart and Walgreens. Anyone can use this free discount program, but AARP members save even more and receive additional benefits.”
Most importantly, Voskuhl said is to follow a financial action plan.

“Times like these, with high inflation, it’s important to have a budget, but even more important to follow your budget. Additionally, a savings plan will help you save for any unexpected debts or large purchases you may be planning. AARP’s Money Map has several resources available to ensure you are getting the most out of hard-earned your money.”

Once again, that was the AARP’s Sean Voskuhl.
