Winter Wheat Crop Expected To Be Large, USDA Reports

The USDA’s June Crop Production forecast is out.  What does it say about the winter wheat crop? 

Thursday's report shows a slight upward tick in winter wheat production in May and a 2% year-over-year increase, if realized, the largest crop production since 2016.  While forecasted yield is unchanged from the previous month, the almost 54 bushels per acre is up 2% from this time in 2024, projected to be the second highest yield on record.  A less than 1% increase in soft red winter products, and 1% rise in white winter offset a less than 1% month over month production forecast for hard red winter.

In addition, a look at the nation's all orange forecast shows a 1% rise from the previous outlook, yet down 8% from the final 2023-2024 crop utilization.
