Two subjects were prominent in dialogue between USDA's Ted McKinney and those he met with at last week's bilateral trade visit in Mexico.  The Undersecretary said one subject was the USMCA, and how Mexicans view this new deal.
"USMA is seen as a good thing. Largely, they anticipate that it will be passed here. I was not able to secure a timeline for that, but they do anticipate it will be passed here in Mexico in that regard."
The second are the 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Mexico and Canada.
"No surprise that 232 Tariffs have come up unsolicited, and if they didn't come up, I'd bring them up. There's uniformity down here, and amongst those of us at USDA that we hope and seek the 232 Tariffs be removed as soon as possible."
