The Washington Wine Commission renewed their commitment to research in 2016 and there were a lot of successes according to the coordinator of the program.

Melissa Hansen said events like their research review, WAVE seminar and others really built a foundation going into 2017.

“We’re able to take those things that were very successful like WAVE and repeat them and know that there is interest.”

Hansen said they were very excited to connect the industry with research and researchers and they were able to get a lot of very positive feedback.

And lest you think there were a lot of events and projects, Hanson said that’s because they will accept nothing less than top dog status.

“Research has the potential to really move us up the ladder and we’re making great quality right now but my goodness, let’s think about how we could even be better and the ultimate goal of the research program is to make the best wines in the world.”
