U.S. Wins Trade Dispute over Indonesia
The World Trade Organization sided with the U.S. Thursday in a trade dispute with Indonesia regarding their prohibitions on horticultural and animal products.
The WTO panel agreed with the U.S. on all 18 counts that Indonesia was applying import restrictions and prohibitions that were inconsistent with WTO rules.
Congressman Dave Reichert called the decision a victory for Washington’s agriculture industry, particularly apples noting, “We must always fight against these types of actions that hurt consumers and limit opportunity for our communities.”
The U.S. filed the dispute with New Zealand as a co-complainant in 2013.
