In early May, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack told his Canadian counterpart:

"...we were very disappointed, greatly disappointed, in the Canadian response..." to the successful U.S. challenge to Canada's dairy tariff rate quota policies within the USMCA. That response last March was revised policies that provide only current and further processor and distributors be able to apply and be granted TRQ allocations.   v Allocations to be parceled out at months at a time.

In response, the U.S. recently filed a second USMCA dispute against Canadian dairy policy. The US knows the revised Canadian policy would exclude other eligible applicants for TRQ's, such as retailers and food processors, and further violates USMCA by not fully allocating its TRQ's at the beginning of the year.

Secretary Vllsack said in a statement said the U.S. is considering all options available to assure Canadian market access for American dairy products.
