Monday, April 17th is the final day to register for WSU’s Small Fruit Food Safety Workshop in Prosser and at satellite campus in Mount Vernon and Lynden.

Gwen Hoheisel said with all of the changes coming that involve the Food Safety Modernization Act, or FSMA, they wanted to get producers together.

“Providing information that allows you to understand food safety issues from the field to the market.”

Topics will include Global GAP regulations, food safety issues on mechanical harvesters as well as refrigerated packing trucks and much more.

Hoheisel said there is so much that growers have to be aware for the upcoming season.

“It’s difficult to keep up with new regulations and so we have inspectors and people who are familiar with those regulations coming to present and give the latest information to growers.”

The workshop is April 20th in Prosser but will be broadcast to Mount Vernon and Lynden. You can find a link to register and with the full agenda on BrownPaperTickets.com.
