Rural infrastructure was among the aspects of President Donald Trump's presentation last Thursday in Ohio, on his national infrastructure re-build proposal.

"We're going to provide a 50-billion dollar commitment to build infrastructure in rural communities...which are too often left behind. These funds will help to insure every community is connected and has access to modern infrastructure...including broadband internet."

The President says the $50 billion plan for rural infrastructure improvements is a part of a total $200 billion Federal funding proposal for infrastructure upgrades nationwide.  He adds that leveraging that amount in public and private stakeholders is expected to bring the total investment to $1.5 trillion dollars.

"Our plan calls for a new incentive program that provides Billions of dollars in Federal funding to projects in which states and local government and the private sector are willing to invest their own resources as well as the Federal government."
