River View High School Receives $2.8 Million STEM Grant
River View High School in Finley has received a $2.8 million grant from the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction that will help upgrade the school’s ag building and other science facilities.
Ag Teacher Jennifer Yochum said there will be updates to the ag classrooms with sinks, laptop desks, they’ll add a classroom and much more.
“Outfitted for true science classrooms so that we can incorporate more of that science from the agriculture realm into our classrooms.”
Yochum said that the students will also be able to use real-world agricultural technology which will better prepare them for their next steps.
“They’re going to be doing experiments that may be out in the ag realm in a modified classroom so that they get the experience and when they’re ready to go out to the ag industry, they have that knowledge and that background.”
Planning the upgrades is already underway with complete ready for the 2017-18 school year. There is also a bond issue in February will offer even more money to help with greenhouse skins and other ag upgrades.
