Red Cross In Oregon Needs Blood

The Red Cross still needs help getting its blood bank back to capacity after a shortage earlier in the year.  Rebecca Marshall, with the Red Cross Cascades Region, says they're offering a $15 Amazon gift card, and have your blood tested for A1C.

"We started this last year and we found over the past year that one in five blood donors had elevated A1C levels, which could be a sign of pre-diabetes or diabetes."

The Red Cross Needs Your Help After Last Year

You can donate blood, plasma or platelets.  Marshall noted 2025 was a busy year for the local Red Cross.

"We provided relief and recovery to over 900 households," Marshall said.  "That could be anything from a natural disaster, like some of the wildfires we saw, but also to the home fires we responded to.  We respond to hundreds of home fires all year long, just about every day."
