Oregon’s Department of Agriculture is now recommending against all in-person exhibitions of poultry, because of the ongoing epidemic of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza.  Bird flu already prevented 4-H students from displaying birds at the Deschutes and Lane County fairs.

ODA says future events should also exclude exhibits.  There is an exception for market birds, those animals are sold and killed.  Although, ODA said exhibitors should still be made aware of the risk to their other birds and enhance bio-security should be in place.
