ODA Planning For Trade Teams From Australia, Europe
Oregon’s Department of Agriculture will host buyers from Europe and Australia next month, to meet with local producers and discuss importing Oregon food products. ODA’s Erick Garman said he expects four to five buyers from each continent.
"On the producer side, we could have anywhere from 10 to 20, just depending on the interest in those areas. We have not done an inbound mission from Australia and Europe in a few years. So, it’s sort of a new area that at least Oregon has been focusing on."
Garman said the focus is on what’s considered “value added” products, like dried, canned or frozen fruits or roasted nuts.
“Oregon is known- has a history of being a very specialty product state. That goes everywhere from agriculture all the way to our value-add products. We use high-quality products.”
Producers interested in participating in the downtown Portland event must register by August 30th.
