The Secretary of Agriculture is the final post to be announced by President-elect Donald Trump as he prepares to take office next week.

Representative Dan Newhouse said he’s not concerned about ag under the new administration.

“There’s been a lot of work going on trying to determine who the right person should since the election. The fact that it hasn’t been announced yet should not indicate one way or the other the kind of importance that is placed on the agricultural industry cause I know it’s a high priority.”

Newhouse says he will not play any part in the confirmation hearings, but could help pass a waiver to allow General James Mattis to become Secretary of Defense.
