The Washington FFA elected new statewide leadership at the conclusion of the statewide convention in Pullman Saturday.  Alyssa McGee from Sumner was named President.  She told the Washington Ag Network serving as a state officer has always been a dream of hers.

"I grew up with an ag teacher as a parent and so it was something that I was always wanting to do.  However, in saying that the reasons and motives behind wanting to serve as a state officer have definitely changed from wanting it for the glory and the name and the cool chain to really wanting to serve others.”

Prosser High School’s Tye Taylor was named Vice President.  He said so many groups and individuals are need to ensure Washington’s ag remains successful into the future.

“Whether you’re in the field yourself or you’re helping the next crops in the laboratory.  Everybody plays a key role in helping Washington to grow their commodities and to help us have successful ag economy in the state and I just hope to be able to share that story with people all across the state.”
