The Grandview School District has unveiled a new foodservice website designed to inform parents about school nutrition and offers games for kids to learn healthy eating habits.

Food Service Manager Marcia Wagner said they started with the elementary school information first.

“If we can get the kids ingrained in looking at this and playing the games and learning this from the beginning, then it’s going to be much easier for them to adapt that into a healthier lifestyle as they get older.”

Wagner said their new partners at Health-E Living also have nutritional calculators, links to nutrition and fitness information and has helped shaped some of the district’s menus.  Wagner said she hopes this helps parents understand what their kids are eating and how to help them get the healthiest food possible.

“This is a way to help us market that and get that information out in a fun format instead of us just yakking at people.”

Wagner plans to incorporate the surrounding agricultural areas in expanding their farm to school offerings next year to get more healthy food from local sources.
