The traditional beginning of the Dairy Margin Protection Program, or MPP, is the first week of July, but that has been pushed back to September 1st.

Chris Bieker with the Washington State office of the Farm Service Agency says it was done to help local offices handle the many priorities of the FSA.

“We have acreage reporting going on, seeking nominees for county committee elections, and there’s a number of things that are going on right now.”

The announcement came from the national FSA office this week and there is no word on a new end date for signup for the 2018 program.

There will be more information on the signup window for the MPP announced soon.
