There’s been some reason excitement in the world of Agriculture Trade.  First the U.S. and Mexico announced Monday a trade deal.  Soon after that Canada announced they wanted to ratchet up trade talks, so they weren’t left behind on any NAFTA deal.  Somewhat lost in all this trade talk, the current climate between the U.S. and China.

"I think really, the story is we’re trying to lower expectations, but I think the good news is we’re doing it at a foundational level of minister to minster right now, not upper level" Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue.  "And to lay that ground work of where we agree and where we don’t agree.”

Perdue notes these foundation talks will be beneficial in moving conversations toward a positive outcome for both nations.

"Obviously I believe it’s going to take President [Trump] and President Xi of China to close the deal and make the announcement.  But I believe there’s still good work going on.”
