Thanks to some adjustments to the monthly production numbers, the USDA is expecting an increase in year-over-year meat production.  Seth Meyer, World Ag Outlook Board Chair said the anticipation is producers will see a big increase in production between 2018 and 1019.

 

"So when you look at beef we reduced some production in late 2018 and moved that into some additional production in 2019."

 

And he added when it comes to slaughter pace and slaughter numbers and animal weights, the industry actually made some not huge but notable production changes.  As for meat prices, other than a $1 increase for hogs from the previous month, prices for steers, boilers, and turkey remained unchanged in October.  Total meat exports year over year remained up including an increase in pork exports from September.
