The most recent USDA meat production and price forecast report shows increases for March.

World Outlook Board Chair Seth Meyer said, “The increase in beef production is on what we observed from first quarter slaughter. We also observed heavier weights. Now those weights are still down from the first quarter of last year but a little bit heavier from the prior quarter.”

Pork production estimates are down though the industry expansion is underway. Meyer noting that hog prices were down.

Steer prices are on the rise though, up 11 cents per hundredweight.
