ILA Set To Vote On New Contract Next Week

On February 7th, the International Longshoremen Association’s Wage Scale Committee unanimously approved a new six-year contract between the ILA and the U.S. Maritime Alliance.  The next step is a ratification vote on Tuesday February 25th by the ILA rank-and-file membership.  Assuming rank-and-file approves the contract, the final step will be for the Maritime Alliance to vote on the proposed contract.

"It’s therefore likely that the new contract will be finalized by the end of February or early March,” said Mike Steenhoek, executive director of the Soy Transportation Coalition.  “If approved, the contract and all its benefits will be retroactive to October 1, 2024, and will be in effect until September 30, 2030.”

Over 200 ILA Wage Scale Committee members met on February 7 in Florida, to discuss and approve the contract.

“We welcome the news that they’re about to approve a six-year contract,” Steenhoek added.
